21C165 HurricaneHurricane is shown in the condition which it was named by Sir Frank Spriggs (Managing Director of Hawker Siddeley Aircraft Co. Ltd.) at Waterloo Station on September 16th 1947. This was to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the Battle of Britain. 'Hurricane' was one of only two locomotives to have a wedge shaped cab fitted with a two panel windows. 34066 SpitfireSpitfire was one of the last of the unrebuilt light pacifics to remain in service on BR, not being withdrawn until September 1966. It was used to haul enthusiast specials marking the end of steam. It is shown here in BR days (1964) running with a cut- down tender. |
